recording the second record. diary day two!

so we started recording our second record last week. we are recording this one at the stompbox of love in talbot green. we recorded three tracks last week but had some fuzzy issues with the desk - meaning the first versions of "nineteen eighty four" and "vote nobody" went the way of the dead. anyway, me and lewis got there 1pm sharp. boris turned up at 2pm sharp.

we kept "god save the shortcuts" from the first week because the fuzz monster didn't seem to affect that one. over the course of the next couple of hours we tracked our way through "shoot to kill", "safe british home(a song for babi badalov)", "nineteen eighty four", "vote nobody" and a completely new one called "do not die for your government". they came out pretty good. recording stuff yourself is fairly awesome, mainly because 1) you have complete control over how it sounds. 2) you don't have to pay a guy £250+ a day to make you sound the way he wants you to sound. 3) what little money we do have we would rather spend on not recording at an expensive studio. 4) d.i.y is fun. you get to mess around with stuff like this

lewis would probably be able to tell you a lot more about this than me, but this is apparently some kind of super awesome analogue soundcraft desk. after recording i went home, we needed bread so me and my girlfriend went to pandy to pick some up, check out the ultra-basic pet food we found in the shop.

poor guys, i've never actually seen a cat food actually called "cat food" before..
